After 8 months of hard work, I am excited to present my Senior Exhibition in Photography: "Visions Of The Veil". This work can be seen at the Mills College Art Musuem, Oakland, California from March 28th to April 18th, 2002. A reception for the artists will be given on Saturday, April 6th from 3 to 5 pm. All are welcome.
This work was originally inspired by the beauty of the veil in the American Belly Dance. However, since the events of 9/11, the veil took on a new meaning for me. As it was such a timely subject, I began to focus on the traditional veil instead. In my work I hoped to bring to mind that which is hidden, that which is visible, and that sensuality and strenth of women that will never be suppressed by the veil.
